Drum Circle“This was the best workshop that I have ever attended. I am going home to see if I can find a drum circle that I can attend now. I am hooked. Thank you so much.” Public Guardians workshop

“We all enjoyed the drum circle and I can truly see myself doing something like this, full-time. I love it!! I want you to know that this exudes lost of positive energy and I feel the world is in need of more. Thank you Colleen for sharing this and sparking the old life button once again. I hope we can “drum up” some business for you by word of mouth”

“Colleen Garland has been setting up drum circles 4 times a year at our facility for just over 2 years. Many of our residents come out to participate in the event. It is evident that this activity is truly beneficial to many ages; our residents range in age from 55 - 99. It is nice to see an activity that can bring together such a variety of ages. The research is true; drumming for seniors increases their concentration and focus. It helps to fight off depression and to re-connect with family and friends. Drumming has enabled them to forget about their troubles ( for a while) while they focus on drumming, leading to smiles and laughter. It also helps them to remember long forgotten rhythms and songs, bringing joy of past memories. We will continue to welcome Colleen into our facility for the benifit of our residents.” Ryan Wiest, Riverview Care Centre.

” The drum circles were incredible. I was so happy that you engaged everyone at our assembly in the beat of the drumming. Having the older kids on the outside of the circles, on the bigger drums, and the younger kids sitting on the floor in the middle of the drum circles, with noise makers, was very benificial. Staff, students and parents were in the audience with noise makers or had the option of clapping to the beat. Everyone ( including approzimately 300 students, staff and parents) were engaged in the crum circle. Many staff and parents enjoyed the drumming and found it very interesting and theraputic. Students loved being a part of the circles as well and seemed to really come together ot create a beat with a multi-aged group! Very powerful!” Tricia Unreiner, Seven Persons School.
